Houston, Texas (CBS News) -- The U. S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a safety alert about erectile dysfunction, but not Viagra.
The warning is based on an evaluation of clinical trials of Viagra and its competitors, but it has not yet been updated.
The agency has not yet issued a statement about the safety of the drug, but is likely to. The drug is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. It was approved by the FDA in March.
